Ilknur was born in Izmir and initially studied psychology at the Goethe University in Frankfurt a.M. and afterwards she studied acting at the Otto Falckenberg school, Munich. Amongst the theatres she performed at are Schillertheater NRW Wuppertal, Theatre Basel, Staatstheater Hannover, Schauspiel Köln, Theater Neumarkt Zürich, Maxim Gorki Theatre Berlin, Theatre St. Gallen, Theatre an der Winkelwiese as well as engagements in movies and radio broadcasts. In 2005 she was directing the shorts »Sugar« and »Frau Harp mag Fleisch« (Berlinale Talentcampus, invitations to several international film festivals). »Wer bist du und warum?« at the Theatre Neumarkt was her first work as a theatre director. Since 1999 Ilknur is also working in fine arts.
